Colleen Aherne (Ballet and Preschool) is a certified Royal Academy of Dance instructor. She began her dance training when she was 7 at Londonderry Dance Academy under the instruction of Barbara Mullen. She received her BFA in dance performance from Butler University in 2001. While attending Butler she performed with the Butler Ballet, dancing roles in shows such as The Nutcracker, Giselle, Swan Lake and Coppelia. She also had the oportunity to perform in Ballet Internationale’s performance of Don Quixotein 2000. Since graduating she has danced with the New England Dance Ensemble, performing soloist roles in their annual production of the Nutcracker and recently in a production of Coppelia. Colleen has also danced with Synthesis Dance Project under the direction of Tracie Stanfield in New York City for the past four years. With the company she has performed in the International Dance Festival, The Elan Awards and SONO Arts festival.
