PRE-BALLET
CORE CURRICULUM: Conditioning, Classical Ballet Technique
Pre-Ballet students range between 5 – 6 years of age and study once a week. The goal of the Pre-Ballet program is to allow young girls the experience of a full year of a high-caliber foundational training. Young children that exhibit a love for music, movement, have good attention-spans, and excel through challenge are great candidates for the Pre-Ballet program. Classes are well structured, exciting, and challenging. They are instructed by the ballet director and designed to prepare any eager young dancers for the potential of entry as a full-time student in the program.
There are four components within the Pre-Ballet class work:
- conditioning
- barre work
- musical ear-training
- centre work
The syllabus builds in difficulty over the span of two semesters. In this time, our students develop a solid foundation of classical arm and leg vocabulary, postural development, awareness of turnout, understanding of melody & rhythm, and enhancement of spatial orientation, confidence, memorization, self-motivation, and listening skills.
